Remote Meter Reading over M-Bus

Heat meters and water meters with wired M-Bus communication are connected to a two-wire bus run through the building. The converter at the head of the bus polls the meters one by one and transmits the readings over GSM, Wi-Fi or USB, so an entire building can be read within a single day without entering any apartment.

The Novus DFN-M500 is a converter designed for M-Bus networks with long cable runs. In the field test described in the product description, 562 meters on a 5,000 m cable run were read at roughly two seconds per meter.

Which Meters Can Be Read Remotely?

• Ultrasonic heat meters with M-Bus or wM-Bus (RF) communication
• Large-diameter heat meters (M-Bus)
• Wireless (wM-Bus) heat cost allocators
