Valve Actuators

Electric actuators that drive control valves: linear actuators with 3-point (open–stop–close) or 0-10 V modulating control, rotary actuators, and thermal actuators used on manifolds. Which actuator fits which valve?

The choice depends on three values: the valve stroke (mm), the actuator’s thrust force (N) and the valve size. For example, actuators in the 130-600 N class are used on DN15-DN32 linear valves, 400-2000 N on DN40-DN100 and 4000-5000 N on larger sizes. Each product page gives the stroke, force, running speed (s/mm) and compatible valve series in a table.

Control type

3-point control: the controller sends “open” and “close” signals on two separate terminals; the actuator moves for as long as the signal is applied. Modulating (0-10 V / 4-20 mA): the controller sets the position directly, and the actuator stops at the opening that corresponds to the signal; modulating models may also provide a feedback signal. Thermal actuators (TWA, M100) operate on/off and are available as normally closed (NC) or normally open (NO).

On underfloor heating manifolds

The circuit valves on the manifold are driven by thermal actuators with an M30 x 1.5 connection; the room thermostat powers the actuator when the circuit calls for heat. Thermostat and master controller options are on the Room Thermostats page.
