NVS - Blind Plug
A blind plug is a part that closes the end openings of pipelines. It prevents any leakage and provides reliable sealing against fluid movement.
What Is a Blind Plug?
A blind plug is a stopper used in plumbing systems to close the open ends of pipes or fittings. It is usually made of chrome, brass, plastic or stainless steel and is used to provide leak-tightness.
Purpose of a Blind Plug
- Closing Open Ends:
- By closing unused pipe openings in plumbing systems, it prevents water leaks and dust ingress.
- For example, a blind plug is fitted to close the unused outlet of a valve.
- Aesthetic Appearance:
- Chrome-plated blind plugs are a decorative finishing touch, especially in bathroom and kitchen installations.
- Temporary or Permanent Closure:
- If the system will be extended later, a removable blind plug is used.
- For permanent closures, welded or solvent-cemented blind plugs are preferred.

How to Fit a Blind Plug
- A blind plug of the right size (1/2", 3/4", etc.) is selected.
- Teflon tape or its gasket is applied for sealing.
- It is fixed by tightening with a wrench or by hand.

- Plugging an unused radiator inlet
- Protecting the outlet of a fire valve outside a building
