NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Dome Cap Nut DIN 1587
NVS AISI 316 stainless steel dome cap nut: hexagonal, closed domed end, internal thread. Size range: M3–M24 (13 sizes). This hex nut has one end closed in a dome shape. It covers the bolt end, protects the threads from impact and dirt, and gives the joint a neat, closed appearance.
AISI 316 (1.4401) is a molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel. It resists chloride media, sea water and chemicals significantly better than grade 304 and is recommended for swimming pools, coastal sites, chemical plants and outdoor use.

Selection and installation notes
- Because the end is closed, choose the bolt length to suit the internal depth of the nut; the bolt end should enter the dome but must not bottom out.
- Stainless threads are prone to galling (cold welding); lubricate the threads and tighten at low speed.
- A4 (316) contains molybdenum and is more resistant than 304 in chlorinated, salty and chemical environments; it is a suitable choice for marine and coastal installations.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
