NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Reducing Bushing (Male-Female, BSP)
NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Reducing Bushing (Male-Female, BSP)
NVS AISI 316 stainless steel reducing bushing: male thread outside, female thread inside (BSP), hex head. Size range: 1/4″ × 1/8″ – 4″ × 3″ (39 sizes). This hex-head reducing bushing has a larger male thread outside and a smaller female thread inside; it reduces a large female-threaded connection to a smaller size.
AISI 316 (1.4401) is a molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel. It resists chloride media, sea water and chemicals significantly better than grade 304 and is recommended for swimming pools, coastal sites, chemical plants and outdoor use.
Applications
- Size reduction in threaded installations
- Instrument, pump and meter connections
- Water, air and process pipelines
- Food and chemical installations

Selection and installation notes
- The size is written from large to small (e.g. 1/2″-1/4″: male thread 1/2″, female thread 1/4″); it screws into the larger female-threaded part.
- Use PTFE tape or a thread sealant; do not over-tighten stainless threads, as this can cause galling (cold welding).
- Grade 316 contains molybdenum and resists chloride media and sea water better than 304.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
