NVS AISI 304 Stainless Steel Hex Bushing (Male-Female, BSP)
NVS AISI 304 Stainless Steel Hex Bushing (Male-Female, BSP)
NVS AISI 304 stainless steel hex bushing: male thread outside, female thread inside (BSP), hex head. Size range: 1/4″ × 1/8″ – 4″ × 3″ (39 sizes). This hex-head reducing bushing has a larger male thread outside and a smaller female thread inside; it reduces a larger female threaded connection to a smaller size.
AISI 304 (1.4301) is a general-purpose chromium-nickel stainless steel. It is widely used in water, heating and cooling, compressed air, food processing and indoor and outdoor applications.
Applications
- Size reduction in threaded pipework
- Instrument, pump and meter connections
- Water, air and process pipelines
- Food and chemical installations

Selection and installation notes
- Sizes are given from large to small (e.g. 1/2″-1/4″: male thread 1/2″, female thread 1/4″); it screws into a fitting with the larger female thread.
- Use PTFE tape or a thread sealant; do not over-tighten stainless threads, as this can cause galling (cold welding).
- Where sea water, salty environments or chloride cleaning chemicals are present, choose grade 316.
- AISI 304 is intended for general use; choose AISI 316 for chloride media, sea water and swimming pool applications.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
