The Caleffi inclined pressure reducing valve is designed to reduce the mains inlet pressure to a safe level and keep it stable in residential and small-scale plumbing systems. Its replaceable cartridge and integrated strainer provide long-lasting, reliable and maintenance-friendly operation.

Purpose and Applications
Pressure reducing valves are used in domestic water systems to reduce and stabilize the mains pressure, which is usually high and variable. The Caleffi 533 series was developed especially for small-scale systems such as apartments and for protecting hot water storage heaters.
Operating Principle
The pressure reducing valve works on the balance between two opposing forces:
- The spring force, which opens the flow passage
- The thrust force of the diaphragm, which closes the flow passage
With Water Flow
When a draw-off point is opened, the spring force becomes greater than the diaphragm force. The obturator moves down and the valve opens to water flow. As water demand increases, the pressure under the diaphragm drops and the amount of water flowing through the valve increases.
Without Water Flow
When the draw-off point is closed, the outlet pressure rises and pushes the diaphragm upward. The obturator then closes the valve and the outlet pressure is held at the set value.

Use with Hydraulic Safety Groups
Model 5331 is suitable for use with Caleffi 5261 series hydraulic safety groups designed for hot water storage heaters. The 3/4” nut supplied with the product allows direct connection to the inlet of the safety group.
