Minol Zenner WPD Woltman Series
The ZENNER WPD is a flanged Woltman water meter designed to measure high flow rates with low pressure loss in drinking water distribution and industry. The WPD covers sizes DN40–DN150; for DN200–DN300, the WPHD model of the same family is used.
In a Woltman meter, the water turns a turbine whose axis is aligned with the pipe. The WPD's register is a 6-drum hermetically sealed glass/copper dry dial fitted with a modulator disc; this disc allows remote reading modules to perform electronic sensing without affecting the meter's measurement. The measuring unit is replaceable: it can be renewed while the body remains in the line.
Key Features
- Woltman parallel type: the turbine axis is parallel to the direction of flow; high flow rates are measured with low pressure loss
- High accuracy even at low flow rates; low starting flow rate and high overload resistance
- Hydraulic bearing relief and a swirl-reducing inlet; long-term measurement stability
- No straight pipe runs required before or after the meter (U0/D0; according to OIML R49 and EN ISO 4064)
- 6-drum, flood-proof, hermetically sealed glass/copper dry register (IP68); register rotatable by 355°
- Replaceable, MID-compliant measuring unit
- Ductile (spheroidal graphite) cast iron (GGG) body; materials in contact with drinking water comply with German drinking water approval requirements
- Register with modulator disc; retrofittable EDC modules: wM-Bus (868 MHz) or LoRaWAN radio module, combined M-Bus + pulse module (10 liters/pulse). A mechanical reed-contact pulse transmitter (100 liters/pulse) can also be connected in parallel

The table shows the manufacturer's standard measuring range; on request, the manufacturer also produces versions with a wider measuring range (e.g. R315 horizontal). Flanges are to ISO 7005-2; the MAP 10 version of the DN80 has 4 × M16 bolts. All versions: temperature range 0.1–50 °C, operating pressure MAP 16.
Applications
- Main supply lines of buildings, residential complexes and campuses
- High-flow metering points in drinking water distribution lines
- Service and process water lines in industrial facilities
- Water tank, booster set and pump outlets
Why Minol Zenner WPD?
The WPD measures high flow rates with low pressure loss, and because it needs no straight pipe runs, it is easy to install in cramped plant rooms and pump rooms. Thanks to the replaceable measuring unit, the body stays in the line during maintenance; the register with modulator disc allows the meter to be connected later to an M-Bus, wM-Bus or LoRaWAN remote reading system.
Installation, Reading and Re-verification
Flush the pipeline thoroughly before installation. The meter is connected without stress between counter-flanges of the same nominal size, with the arrow on its body pointing in the direction of water flow; the flange gaskets must not protrude into the pipe, and the pipe size must not be reduced immediately upstream or downstream of the meter. The meter can be installed horizontally or vertically; the measuring range is R160 for horizontal installation and R63 (R50 for the Q3 25 version) for vertical installation. Valves and flow control devices should be fitted downstream of the meter where possible; to prevent air from collecting, the meter should not be installed at the highest point of the system, and if necessary a strainer should be fitted upstream to protect against foreign matter such as stones and sand. After installation, fill the line slowly to avoid pressure surges. The meter is not suitable for measuring reverse flow.
Readings are taken from a 6-drum register; the smallest reading increment is 0.5 liters. When an EDC module is fitted, the meter reading is collected remotely via an M-Bus line or a wM-Bus / LoRaWAN wireless network; the pulse output of the combined module provides 10 liters/pulse, and the mechanical reed-contact pulse transmitter provides 100 liters/pulse.
Check your local regulations for the periodic re-verification requirements of cold water meters.
