NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Y-Strainer (Threaded)
NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Y-Strainer (Threaded)
The NVS AISI 316 stainless steel y-strainer has bSP female thread on both ends and is available in 6 sizes from 1/2″–2″. Traps sediment and particles in a stainless screen to protect pumps, valves, meters and heat exchangers. The screen is cleaned by removing the bottom plug.
AISI 316 (1.4401) is a molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel. It resists chloride media, sea water and chemicals considerably better than grade 304 and is recommended for swimming pools, coastal, chemical and outdoor applications.
Threads are BSP (Whitworth); do not combine with NPT-threaded parts.

Selection and installation notes
- 304 or 316? Molybdenum-alloyed; chloride media, sea water, swimming pools and chemicals. For general water and heating applications the more economical AISI 304 is sufficient.
- Seal threaded joints with PTFE tape or a stainless-compatible liquid sealant; over-tightening stainless threads can cause galling.
- Joining stainless steel directly to galvanized or carbon steel pipe can cause galvanic corrosion; a dielectric (insulating) union is recommended between different metals.
