NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Wing Nut DIN 315
NVS AISI 316 stainless steel wing nut: two wings, hand-tightened, internal thread. Size range: M4–M12 (6 sizes). Thanks to the wings on both sides, this nut can be tightened and loosened by hand without a wrench. It is used on covers and adjustable joints that are opened and closed often.
AISI 316 (1.4401) is a molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel. It resists chloride media, sea water and chemicals significantly better than grade 304 and is recommended for swimming pools, coastal sites, chemical plants and outdoor use.

Selection and installation notes
- Because it is tightened by hand, it may loosen in high-torque or vibrating joints; use a lock nut in such places.
- Stainless threads carry a risk of galling (cold welding); lubricate the threads and tighten at low speed.
- A4 (316) contains molybdenum, so it is more durable than 304 in chlorinated, salty and chemical environments; it is a suitable choice for marine and coastal installations.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
