NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Short Link Chain DIN 766
NVS AISI 316 stainless steel short link chain: calibrated chain with oval links. Size range: Ø2–Ø12 mm (8 sizes). This stainless chain is made of interlocking oval links and is selected by wire diameter. Being grade 316, it is used as anchor and mooring chain on boats and yachts, and for hanging and tie-down work in salt water and chemical environments.
AISI 316 (1.4401) is a molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel. It resists chloride media, sea water and chemicals significantly better than grade 304 and is recommended for swimming pools, coastal sites, chemical plants and outdoor use.

Selection and installation notes
- The size is the diameter of the link wire; the thickness of the chain is determined by this value.
- For load-bearing uses such as anchoring and lifting, verify the load capacity of the chain separately; no load value is given on this page.
- Grade 316 (A4), which contains molybdenum, is more durable than 304 in sea water and chlorinated environments.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
