NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Serrated Lock Washer DIN 6798
NVS AISI 316 stainless steel serrated lock washer: toothed (serrated) edge, center hole. Size range: M3–M12 (7 sizes). This lock washer has serrated teeth around its edge. When tightened, the teeth bite into the surface and the bolt head and prevent loosening.
AISI 316 (1.4401) is a molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel. It resists chloride media, sea water and chemicals significantly better than grade 304 and is recommended for swimming pools, coastal sites, chemical plants and outdoor use.
Applications
- Vibrating joints in marine and coastal environments
- Chemical and pharmaceutical plant equipment
- Swimming pools and chlorinated water systems
- Cover and panel bolts

Selection and installation notes
- The teeth leave marks on the surface; keep this in mind before using it on painted, coated or visible surfaces.
- The teeth become dull after removal; fit a new washer instead of reusing it.
- Choose the bolt, nut and washer in the same grade; mixing grades upsets the corrosion balance of the joint.
- AISI 304 is intended for general use; choose AISI 316 for chloride media, sea water and swimming pool applications.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
