NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Reducing Hex Nipple (Male-Male, BSP)
NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Reducing Hex Nipple (Male-Male, BSP)
NVS AISI 316 stainless steel reducing hex nipple: BSP male thread on both ends, hexagonal body. Size range: 1/2″ × 1/8″ – 2″ × 1½″ (21 sizes). This reducing nipple has a hexagonal body and male threads of different sizes on its two ends; it joins two female-threaded connections while changing the line size.
AISI 316 (1.4401) is a molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel. It resists chloride media, sea water and chemicals significantly better than grade 304 and is recommended for swimming pools, coastal sites, chemical plants and outdoor use.
Applications
- Reducing and increasing pipe size in threaded installations
- Water, air and process pipelines
- Pump and instrument connections
- Food and chemical installations

Selection and installation notes
- Both ends have male threads; the parts to be connected must have female threads.
- Use PTFE tape or a thread sealant; do not over-tighten stainless threads, as this can cause galling (cold welding).
- Grade 316 contains molybdenum and resists chloride media and sea water better than 304.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
