NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Weld Union (Conical Seat)
NVS AISI 316 Stainless Steel Weld Union (Conical Seat)
NVS AISI 316 stainless steel weld union: butt-weld end on both sides, conical seat. Size range: Ø21.3–Ø114.3 mm (9 sizes). This three-piece union with a conical seat is welded to the pipe at both ends; the center nut joins the two halves so the line can be taken apart when needed.
AISI 316 (1.4401) is a molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel. It resists chloride media, sea water and chemicals significantly better than grade 304 and is recommended for swimming pools, coastal sites, chemical plants and outdoor use.
Applications
- Removable joint point on welded pipelines
- Pump, filter and equipment inlets
- Food, water and process lines

Selection and installation notes
- Weld with the union parts separated so that heat does not damage the seating surfaces.
- Do not scratch the conical seating surfaces; clean them before assembly and apply pickling and passivation after welding.
- Grade 316 contains molybdenum and resists chloride media and sea water better than 304.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
