NVS AISI 304 Stainless Steel Nylon Insert Lock Nut DIN 985
NVS AISI 304 Stainless Steel Nylon Insert Lock Nut DIN 985
NVS AISI 304 stainless steel nylon insert lock nut: hexagonal, with nylon (fiber) insert ring, self-locking. Size range: M3–M30 (15 sizes). This lock nut has a nylon ring at its end that keeps it from loosening on its own under vibration. It holds the joint on its own, without a lock washer or jam nut.
AISI 304 (1.4301) is a general-purpose chromium-nickel stainless steel. It is widely used in water, heating and cooling, compressed air, food processing and indoor and outdoor applications.
Applications
- Vibrating equipment such as motors, pumps and conveyors
- Food and packaging machines
- Poolside and outdoor joints
- Joints that are rarely taken apart and must not loosen

Selection and installation notes
- The nylon ring is damaged at high temperatures and by some chemicals; check suitability before use on hot lines or in solvent environments.
- The locking effect decreases after the nut has been removed and refitted a few times; use a new nut on critical joints.
- Stainless threads carry a risk of galling (cold welding); lubricate the threads and tighten at low speed.
- AISI 304 is intended for general use; choose AISI 316 for chloride media, sea water and swimming pool applications.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
