Minol Zenner WPD T90 Series
The ZENNER WPD T90 is the version of the WPD Woltman family made for hot water up to 90 °C. It measures high hot water flow rates with low pressure loss in drinking water distribution and industry; the family covers sizes DN50–DN250 (WPHD T90 for DN200 and DN250).
In a Woltman meter, the water turns a turbine whose axis is aligned with the pipe. The register is a 6-drum, flood-proof, hermetically sealed glass/copper dry dial (IP68) fitted with a modulator disc; this disc allows remote reading modules to perform electronic sensing without affecting the meter's measurement.
Key Features
- Woltman parallel type: the turbine axis is parallel to the direction of flow; hot water up to 90 °C
- High accuracy even at low flow rates; low starting flow rate and high overload resistance
- Wide measuring range, low pressure loss
- Hydraulic bearing relief and a swirl-reducing inlet; long-term measurement stability
- No straight pipe runs required before or after the meter (U0/D0; according to OIML R49 and EN ISO 4064)
- 6-drum, flood-proof, hermetically sealed glass/copper dry register (IP68)
- Materials in contact with drinking water comply with German drinking water approval requirements; the manufacturer tests every meter at the factory to MID requirements
- Register with modulator disc; retrofittable EDC modules: wM-Bus (868 MHz) or LoRaWAN radio module, combined M-Bus + pulse module (10 liters/pulse). A mechanical reed-contact pulse transmitter (100 liters/pulse) can also be fitted
WPD T90 Size, Dimension and Flow Rate Table
| Size | Q3 (m³/h) | Q4 (m³/h) | Q1 horizontal (m³/h) | Starting flow rate (m³/h) | Pressure loss class (bar) | Body length L (mm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DN50 (2”) | 40 | 50 | 0,4 | 0,065 | 0,25 | 200 |
| DN65 (2½”) | 63 | 78,75 | 0,63 | 0,065 | 0,40 | 200 |
| DN80 (3”) | 100 | 125 | 1,0 | 0,11 | 0,40 | 225 |
| DN100 (4”) | 160 | 200 | 1,6 | 0,15 | 0,40 | 250 |
Values are taken from the manufacturer's data sheet (standard measuring range, R100 for horizontal installation). All sizes: temperature range 0.1–90 °C, operating pressure MAP 16; flanges to ISO 7005-2.
Applications
- Main-line metering in central hot water generation and distribution lines
- Buildings with high hot water consumption, such as hotels, hospitals, dormitories and sports facilities
- Industrial domestic hot water and process water lines up to 90 °C
- Heat transfer circuits with water-glycol mixtures (suitable according to the manufacturer; this use is not covered by the conformity assessment)
Why Minol Zenner WPD T90?
The WPD T90 measures high flow rates at up to 90 °C in the main lines of central hot water systems; low pressure loss and a design that needs no straight pipe runs make installation easy. Thanks to the register with modulator disc, the meter can be purchased without a module and later read remotely via M-Bus, wM-Bus or LoRaWAN with an EDC module.
Installation, Reading and Re-verification
Flush the pipeline thoroughly before installation. Connect the meter without stress between counter-flanges of the same nominal size, with the arrow on the body pointing in the direction of water flow; flange gaskets must not protrude into the pipe, and the pipe diameter must not be reduced immediately upstream or downstream of the meter. Where possible, install valves and flow control devices downstream of the meter; if necessary, fit a strainer upstream to protect against foreign matter such as stones and sand. The water temperature must not exceed 90 °C, and the line pressure must not exceed the meter's maximum operating pressure. After installation, fill the line slowly to avoid pressure surges; the meter is not suitable for measuring reverse flow.
Readings are taken from a 6-drum register; the smallest reading increment is 0.5 liters. When an EDC module is fitted, the meter reading is collected remotely via an M-Bus line or a wM-Bus / LoRaWAN wireless network; the pulse output of the combined module provides 10 liters/pulse, and the mechanical reed-contact pulse transmitter provides 100 liters/pulse.
Check your local regulations for the periodic re-verification requirements of hot water meters.
