Minol Zenner MTKD Series
The ZENNER MTKD is a dry-dial multi-jet water meter designed to measure cold water consumption in medium-diameter lines. In the MTKD-M version, the 8-digit register is fitted with a modulator disc that allows remote reading modules to detect consumption electronically without affecting the meter's measurement.
Water enters the measuring chamber through multiple jets around the impeller; according to the manufacturer, this design minimizes bearing load and ensures a long service life. The rotation of the impeller is transmitted by a protected magnetic coupling to the dry register, which is separated from the water.
Key Features
- Multi-jet dry dial; the rotation of the impeller is transmitted to the register by a protected magnetic coupling
- 8-digit drum register; smallest reading 0.02 liters, largest 99,999.999 m³
- Register with modulator disc: the remote reading module performs electronic sensing without affecting the meter's measurement
- UV-resistant polymer register cover (IP65); optional IP68 version with glass/copper register (MTKD-M-CC)
- Register rotatable by 355°; after the meter is installed, it is turned to face the reading direction
- Brass body compliant with the UBA (German Federal Environment Agency) list
- Horizontal and vertical installation; no straight pipe runs required upstream or downstream of the meter (U0/D0)
- Retrofittable EDC modules: wM-Bus (868 MHz) or LoRaWAN radio module, combined M-Bus + pulse module (1 liter/pulse); the module is fitted without breaking the meter's seals
MTKD-M Size, Dimensions and Flow Rate Table
| Size | Meter thread | Body length L (mm) | Q3 (m³/h) | Q4 (m³/h) | R horizontal / vertical | Starting flow rate (l/h) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| DN25 (1”) | G1¼ B | 260 | 6,3 | 7,88 | R160 / R40 | < 18 |
| DN25 (1”) | G1¼ B | 260 | 10 | 12,5 | R160 / R50 | < 18 |
| DN32 (1¼”) | G1½ B | 260 | 6,3 | 7,88 | R160 / R40 | < 18 |
| DN32 (1¼”) | G1½ B | 260 | 10 | 12,5 | R160 / R50 | < 18 |
| DN40 (1½”) | G2 B | 300 | 16 | 20 | R160 / R40 | < 40 |
Values are taken from the manufacturer's datasheet; the Q3 and R values of the installed meter are shown on its label. All versions: temperature range 0.1–50 °C, operating pressure MAP 16, pressure loss class 0.63 bar.
Applications
- Measuring cold water consumption at building, block and complex entrances
- Sub-metering for common-area lines (garden irrigation, pool, booster pump outlet)
- Domestic water lines in workplaces, schools, hotels and industrial facilities
- M-Bus, wM-Bus or LoRaWAN remote meter reading systems
Why Minol Zenner MTKD-M?
The MTKD-M is a compact metering solution with threaded connections for DN25 lines: it is suitable for horizontal and vertical installation and requires no straight pipe runs upstream or downstream. The meter can be purchased without a module and later upgraded to remote meter reading via M-Bus, wM-Bus or LoRaWAN by fitting an EDC module.
Installation, Reading and Re-verification
Install the meter in the cold water line with the arrow on the body pointing in the direction of water flow and without mechanical stress; measuring range R160 applies to horizontal installation and R40 (R50 for the Q3 10 version) to vertical installation. If the water may contain dirt, a strainer upstream of the meter and a valve before and after it make maintenance and replacement easier; open the valves slowly to avoid pressure surges.
The meter is read from the 8-digit register. When an EDC module is fitted, the meter reading is collected remotely over the M-Bus line or the wM-Bus / LoRaWAN radio network; the pulse output of the combined module provides 1 liter/pulse.
Check your local regulations for the periodic re-verification requirements of cold water meters.
