Magmaweld TI 316L Stainless Steel TIG Filler Rod (316 Grade)
Magmaweld TI 316L Stainless Steel TIG Filler Rod (316 Grade)
Magmaweld TI 316L stainless steel TIG filler rod: TIG (gas-shielded) welding rod, 1000 mm length. Size range: Ø1.2–Ø3.2 mm (5 sizes). This 316L alloy filler rod is made for joining, cladding and build-up welding of grade 316 stainless steels by the gas-shielded TIG process. The rods are 1 m long; the diameter is selected from 1.2 to 3.2 mm and the rods are sold by the kilogram.
AISI 316 (1.4401) is a molybdenum-alloyed stainless steel. It resists chloride media, sea water and chemicals significantly better than grade 304 and is recommended for swimming pools, coastal sites, chemical plants and outdoor use.
Applications
- Welding 316 / 316L stainless pipes, tanks and equipment
- Manufacturing food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and chemical equipment
- Welding of piping, boilers, tanks and pools
- Joining, cladding and build-up welds

Selection and installation notes
- This is a TIG rod for grade 316; for welding 304, a 308L filler (e.g. EI 308L electrode) is used.
- The price is per kilogram; the number of rods in 1 kg depends on the diameter.
- After welding, remove heat tint and the oxide layer with pickling or cleaning gel.
- Direct contact between stainless steel and galvanized or carbon steel can cause galvanic corrosion; use insulation (washers, unions) between different metals.
